Our review:

DealCatcher.com was founded by Dan Baxter in 1999 as a money saving resource for family and friends and has today grown into a site that promotes deals for over 500 online merchants.

DealCatcher has a section of the site dedicated to price comparison but that section is really just a co-branded version of the PriceGrabber.com site so nothing new here. An interesting idea is that the site will forward visitors to the price comparison section if no matching coupons or deals are found during a search.

The forum on the site is very active and has close to 50,000 members who post deals, comments and general chat messages.

Like other coupon sites, DealCatcher makes money from a combination of ads, referral fees and other affiliate relationships but is all in all a very nice source for find good deals on the web.

DealCatcher gets around 1 million unique visitors per month and is located in Wilmington, DE

brings together some of the best deals online

This site brings together some of the best deals online. The site doesn't sell anything itself, but displays descriptions and links to extremely good buys on other sites. Many of the sites are for well known and national brands. Deals on computers, electronics, shoes, apparel, sporting goods and more. The site also displays links to coupons you can use at other sites. To be effective, you need to visit this site frequently as the deals are constantly changing. The descriptions have sufficient detail. I don't like that the content is unpredictable.

Excellent coupons at incredible speeds

Dealcatcher is one of the largest purveyors of online deals. The website is basically focused on collecting and organizing different promotions, coupons, freebies, and the like so that consumers can save money on their online and offline purchases.

Selection / Content
One of the best reasons to use a site such as dealcatcher, which is large in size is that it has a great number of the major companies listed. I know that when I need a coupon or some sort of a deal, if it exists online, then most likely it is going to be on dealcatcher. Most of the time I find that I just assume that if it isn't on dealcatcher than there isn't a coupon available.

Another great aspect of the site is that it also shows rebates in addition to the coupons. This of course is great for major purchases that often times have $50-$500 rebates that you send away for. While the money isn't typically an immediate savings that you expect with a coupon, it is a great way to save a great chunk of money.

Ease of Use / Website Navigation
The site itself is organized in a variety of ways to make it easy for any type of user. For those that are just browsing the site to see what is available, there is a listing of some of the top deals, a listing for the most popular coupons, the new coupons, ones that are about to expire, and of course those that are from the major companies.

The site also includes a deal newsletter where you will be emailed on a regular basis the new deals that are available. This mailing is excellent as it means that you don't have to visit the site quite as frequently in order to ensure that you are taking advantage of all of the good discounts that you are eligible for when making purchases both online and offline.

Speed / Reliability
In the years that I have used the site, I have always found it to be incredibly fast. I cannot remember a single time that the site has ever been down in the years of using the site. This of course is important as I am very random in my purchases and typically I am not going to wait for dealcatcher to come back online before I make a purchase. Normally, when I want to make a purchase, I'm going to make it regardless of the discount, so I truly do rely on dealcatcher to be online and working and so far it hasn't let me down.

Customer Service / Satisfaction
While dealcatcher really doesn't have a customer service sort of setup, they do have the ability to be reached by consumers. There have been times when I reported coupons that are no good or don't exist anymore and they have responded quickly letting me know that the coupon was verified as being expired and removed. Knowing that they respond to even those requests to remove bad coupons shows me that they do care about their users.

Final Thoughts
If you are looking to save some money online, then you should most definitely consider using dealcatcher. It provides the best coupons with an easy to navigate interface.

Excellent, Simple Resource for the Internet's Best Deals

In the old days- old here meaning the time when things were done all on paper- savvy shoppers would look out for each week's best bargains by clipping coupons from the weekly circulars. We probably still clip coupons nowdays, but the online medium has made things a lot easier largely because we can compare prices instantly and from a wider variety of sources.

I generally receive about seven or eight emails each day from a variety of online retailers advertising the day's sales or bargains. But I know that I cannot possibly sign up for every single retailer's website out there, and even if I were to do that, I'd soon have my Inbox cluttered with emails that would take me half an hour to read and delete. Fortunately, the folks at "DealCatcher" have made my life a whole lot easier by having all these great sales and coupons on one single website that is "refreshed" daily.

What I love about DealCatcher is that it doesn't have all the high-tech buttons, buzzers, lights, bells, Flash and Java media that so many similar sites have. I know that the trend nowdays is towards complexity- just look at Yahoo, for example- because it looks trendy and GenX-ish. But most shoppers want a good bargain, regardless of how the content looks. I'll take a basic looking website- heck even text only at that- but one that really does what it says it does, any day. DealCatcher isn't bare bones, by any means, but it has just enough web content and graphics that I can easily scroll through each day's deals and not have to get a headache doing so.

It really couldn't be any simpler. All the content is on the main page- you don't have to go looking for the buttons anywhere like so many sites- and you simply scroll down the page to look through all of the day's deals. At the top is the "Deal of the Day", but I find that it is always useful to go through the entire list of "New Coupons and Deals" just below it. Each deal is throroughly described as to what you get and what you have to do to get it (e.g. if you have to buy a certain amount, what the rebate is about, how much shipping costs). If you click on each title link you are taken directly to the retailer's site and the deal in question. Nothing is left out, and viewers have the option to add additional information in the "comments" link.

You can also search coupons by retailer or category by clicking one of the links in the left frame of the main page.

I tend to look at the main page alone, as it describes all deals- including coupons and rebates- but you can also look under "Printable Coupons" and "Rebates" individually by clicking the respective tab at the top of the screen. DealCatcher has also partnered with PriceGrabber to allow you to compare prices; just click the "Compare Prices" tab. Finally, you can take a look at the Sunday circular of a number of retailers by clicking the "Sunday Ads", which takes you to site called Sundaysaver.com. Target, WalMart, Kohl's, Sears, JP Penney, and Macy's are some of the bigger names listed.

DealCatcher doesn't give you information that you couldn't obtain yourself- it's not like you get some inside scoop here. But you do get a very easy-to-navigate website where every coupon, rebate, and deal is listed on a single page. You can even look at older deals by going to the "Previous Day" link, usually at the bottom of page 2. The folks at DealCatcher do a great job updating their information and tell you when the deals have expired (they rarely miss this, but you can check usually by looking in the "comments" section, people are good about timely feedback).

I receive emails from retailers like Amazon.com, Buy.com and a few others, and I am quite impressed by the fact that every single deal I get in these emails is daily updated on DealCatcher. I almost don't even need these emails anymore.

If you are pressed for time and want a handy way to search for what products or services are on sale, DealCatcher is a goldmine. You don't have to subscribe to this service or pay for it- it's totally free. And the format is just simple enough that anyone, even someone with a slow dial-up connection, can download the page and scroll through it. This might take forever on the retailer's own sites, which are nowadays filled with Flash and Java-based content that takes a toll on slower computers and connections.
