Our review:

FatWallet.com is built around a very active community that posts deals and coupons to the site in addition to the feature that makes FatWallet stand out from other coupon sites; earn Cash Back while you shop from links and coupons found on the site.

The Cash Back model works by FatWallet sharing its commision on purchases make by the member - very similar to cash back model offered with some credit cards and other loyalty cards. The advantage is of course that discounts might be earned even though you are not even using a coupon in the first place. The business model seem to work really well and has turned the site into a favorite destination for more than 2 million unique visitors per month.

The design of the site is very web 2.0 and very pleasant. The site's price comparison section is really a co-branded PriceGrabber site with pretty much the same content that you would find on PriceGrabber.com

FatWallet.com was launched in 1999 and is located in Rockton, IL

FatWallet review

FatWallet.com is a good option for bargain shopping. It has got lots of shopping deals on offer. There are cash back and coupons available. You can even compare prices from different providers and choose the best bargain. It provides community forum, where you can share your bargain shopping ideas with the others. They have got hundreds of stores and their deals and products. I feel its worth trying.

A nice site to save money A nice site to save money

Fatwallet is a wonderful site, to help you save money. It is very easy to navigate and members are helpful and friendly. This site in particular has a extensive freebies section, and members are quick to post new opportunities, before they expire. Many free magazine subscriptions are available and Fatwallet threads will tell you how to get them yourself. Both printable coupons and online discount codes are found on this site. Heads up posts for paid surveys are frequently posted on Fatwallet. Perhaps the feature which sets Fatwallet apart the most from other similar websites, is their rebate system. Members who sign up for this feature are refunded a percentage of purchases at participating online merchants.

Fat Wallet is my Coupon Code Haven

My hubby turned me on to the wonderful site Fat Wallet a few years ago when he learned that I do a lot of online shopping rather than going to brick and mortar stores. Fat Wallet is an online resource in which users can post all sorts of deals for stores, such as upcoming sales, coupons, and rebates. Also, Fat Wallet allows users to use its rebate shopping area--by clicking through the Fat Wallet portal, users can earn cash back at various percentages. In order to use the cash back option, one needs to sign up as a Fat Wallet user. Yet, other areas of the site--the ones I use the most--do not require any membership.

Hot Deals

Fat Wallet is divided into user-friendly forums, one of which is called "Hot Deals" that is accessible after selecting the "Forums" link on the top of the home page. You do not have to be a member of Fat Wallet to enjoy its content and coupons, which is what attracted me initially to the site. In the "Hot Deals" area, a title search allows you to hunt for your favorite store and find a bulletin board thread that shares online coupon codes. For example, my two favorite stops are the Victoria's Secret Official Coupon Thread and the Sephora Coupons thread. I discovered these two threads in Hot Deals by doing the title search; once I did find them, I bookmarked them on my computer so I wouldn't have to hunt for them again. Fat Wallet Users post online coupon codes and other coupon deals that allow you to maximize your purchases. You'll find free shipping, freebies, and more when you regularly visit these threads. In one recent Victoria's Secret online purchase, I was able to get a free tote bag, a free pair of panties, a free makeup kit (really nice!), and free shipping. Victoria's Secret allows FIVE coupon codes per order, making Fat Wallet a wonderful place to visit when you know you are going to order goodies online.

Sometimes your favorite threads (the sections that pertain to the stores you want to investigate in the forums) are difficult to find. When you use the "Title Search" to find your store, you may have to scroll through various postings in order to find a thread simply dedicated to your store's coupons/ promotions. Take the time to search, because once you discover the store, it will prove a goldmine of savings. Simply bookmark the thread so that you don't have to hunt for it again.

If you use Hot Deals and find some coupon codes or promotions that you want to apply to your impending order, you can take advantage of Fat Wallet's Cash Back option (ONLY FOR MEMBERS) that offers percent cash back of your purchase. Information about Fat Wallet's Cash Back program is featured under the Cash Back and Coupons link accessible throughout the site.

Free Stuff

Free Stuff is accessible under the "Forums" link on the Fat Wallet homepage. To peruse Free Stuff, you do not need to be a member of Fat Wallet. Organized in an online bulletin board fashion, this moderated board features user-postings that highlight current freebies or promotions. The moderators are visible, polite, and helpful as they keep the thread specific to freebies, and not "buy one get one" or other options.

I've received numerous freebies through the Free Stuff information, such as a personalized Starbucks t-shirt, shampoo, a Mario Bascu facial kit, thirty poetry-themed pencils, thirty-one copies of Ayn Rand's Anthem (to use in my high school classroom), toothpaste, a Schick Quattro Razor, a mood ring, bookmarks, a black tote bag, and more. What I appreciate about the Free Stuff thread is that the users will post current freebie offers, and they will elaborate on scams or companies that they know from experience are simply trolling for information. It is helpful to know which companies are legitimate and which are collecting one's private information. The Fat Wallet members are candid (but not offensive) about which companies come through with their freebies. Those who have received a freebie typically report back on the thread, letting others know what has arrived and when.

After selecting "Free Stuff" from the Forum link, scroll down the bulletin board posts to find a promotion that appeals to you. Click the link, and read carefully the posts about the freebie. Find out if others have received it or are warning you away from the freebie. Three bulletin board posts under Free Stuff that remain essentially constant (at the top of the postings) are: Official Magazines Giveaway Thread; MyCokeRewards Points (codes posted); & the Free Movie Screening Thread. The rest of the Free Stuff bulletin board freebies are constantly updated. You can check it every day and find a new deal.

Fat Wallet does have other features that appeal to those who are saving money and looking for deals. Personally, I use the site for its Hot Deals and Free Stuff to maximize my purchases, try new products, and get a bunch of free goodies! Try it out for yourself! :)

How would you like to get paid for shopping?

Fat Wallet is one of several rebate sites out there that kicks you back money for using their site as a portal to online shopping. I have been using rebate sites for years and, since I do quite a bit of online shopping, I have saved literally hundreds over the last few years using sites like Fat Wallet.

WHAT IS IT?

Many popular on line shopping sites pay a kickback to the site that referred you to their site. So, for example, if you decide to shop at the gap's online store, they will send 2% or more of whatever you spend to the site that referred you. The trick is to shop through sites that refund that referral kickback to you. Fat Wallet is one of those sites.

To join Fat Wallet, you have to enter the most minimal of information - really just your name and email address. You also have to set up an account with a password. After that, you have to be sure to go to Fat Wallet first and then click through that site to get to the site you want to shop at. Fat Wallet lists the rebate amounts you can earn which range from 2% to over 20%. Fat Wallet also covers a good variety of stores and many of the popular on line stores.

The other nice thing about Fat Wallet is that they list lots of internet coupons and sales you couldn't easily find on your own. The site itself finds the internet codes. There are also bulletin boards where other users of the site can post great sales or codes they have on their own. I have found this to be a great resource and I almost always check Fat Wallet before making any online purchase to see if they know of a sale or coupon code I can use.

YOUR ACCOUNT

Once you set up an account, Fat Wallet credits money to your account each time you click through to make a purchase. You can also check the site to see how much money is pending in your account.

Generally, your rebate posts in your account a few days after making a purchase. However, it can take three months or more before you can claim your rebate. This is true of most rebate sites I have used. My guess is that it takes that long for the store to pay the rebate site.

GETTING YOUR REBATE

Getting your money out of Fat Wallet is a little more time consuming that other sides. Certain sites, like Ebates, just send you a check once a quarter if you have earned over $5. This site requires you to remember to go back and request a check. I like the sites that send the check automatically. My life is so busy, I don't need something else to do. Once you request the check, it typically shows up in 1-2 weeks although the site says it can take up to six weeks for the check to arrive.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

This site is pretty good about emails. I don't get many spam-type emails. I was worried about them loading my inbox but that hasn't happened.

FINAL RECOMMENDATION

I really like this site. I use it quite a bit along with other sites like ebates.com and upromise.com. I would definitely recommend it.

Come here if you want to get freebies or save money

Fatwallet.com is a great site for free things, hot deals, coupons, and more! The thing that makes this site so great is the community. There is always something to send for in their freebie forums. It is highly moderated so there is little spam on the site. I have gotten a lot from this section including a sonic care electric toothbrush and a $25 Amazon gift card. The hot deal section is a treasure hunt too! If you don't mind rebates, you can get some great deals here. People work hard to find this these hot deals and post them on the forums. That is where you can save a lot of money. And if you are not careful, you might accidentally buy to much! The coupon section is another great way to make money. There are coupons for most major online retailers including amazon.com, target.com, and more! I would recommend looking here before buying anything online so you can pay the lowest amount possible. Along with all this, you can earn money by buying through them. You can even earn money back on eBay, which can save you a lot on major purchases. I would just recommend coming here if you want to save money.

Great site

Navigating take some getting used to, but isn't that bad once you know how. The cash back option is really nice, and the members are even nicer.

Probably the best deals website people never heard of!

Probably the best deals website people never heard of... not only do the forums contain useful information, but also tons of "hot" deals and limited time offers at your favorite online or brick-and-mortar shops.

Also they have something called "fat-cash" which is like a cash-back system... basically if you click the link to your favorite online shop from http://www.fatwallet.com, your purchase may give you anywhere from 1% to 5% cashback... the list of websites is huge, everything from expedia to apple to target to office depot to http://buy.com.... All you have to do is sign up to be a member on their website, and once you've accumulated over $5.00 in cash back, you can request a check from them. I mean you're gonna spend the money anyways, might as well get a few bucks back in return right? You can thank me later!

Fat Wallet Online Coupons

Fat Wallet is located at http://www.fatwallet.com/. Set up as a website to help shoppers find deals, Fat Wallet has developed into a place shoppers and couponers alike go to get deals, share deals and make a little cash back on their shopping too.

In the Hot Deals section, visitors are handed details of some of the best deals on the web in 23 categories. What's easier than saving money? Having someone else tell you exactly where and how to save the most.

Or maybe the pace of the real time discussions in the Forums are more to your liking. Discuss everything from the aforementioned hot deals to rebates. Plus there are areas in the forums to discuss other things like travel deals, auctions, contests, subscriptions, free stuff... just to name a few.

If you are an avid internet shopper and are not participating in a cash back program, here's a great place to start. In the Stores section you'll find stores categorized alphabetically or categorically and the percent of cash back you'll receive for your purchase is marked clearly right next to your link.

There are also sections to compare Price and see Store Ratings and there is a Wiki section that is still in beta filling up with articles that can be edited.

Customer Service

Fat Wallet is home of the legendary 24/7 100% Human Guaranteed policy. With staff available at all hours, their claim is that "Most members receive a response within minutes!"

My Experience with Fat Wallet

I am a regular visitor of the Forum and Hot Deals area of Fat Wallet. Finding noteworthy deals is a game and a pretty cool at that. To be able to read that Old Navy has begun to mark down items for an upcoming sale early in one store, only to find that your store is doing the same can save you big bucks and give you a head start before all the good stuff is gone. The "heads up" value is priceless. However, I've seen many posts by people who don't find the same deals and are frustrated. This is a possibility with any deal. The sooner you learn to roll with it, get the deals that are there and not sweat the deals that aren't, the whole game becomes much more enjoyable.

I'll be honest, I don't use Fat Wallet's cash back program as much as other cash back programs on the web. Their percentages are competitive and they offer some stores that my other cash back sites don't, but they don't credit your account until the merchant reports back to them which could take up to 3 weeks (it usually doesn't, but it could). Then there is a waiting period before they cut your check. This can be up to 4 months. Again, it's not usually that long, but the possibility is there. There are better places to earn cash back like http://www.creationsrewards.net/?referid=566833 which awards points instead of dollars but typically awards points in 48 hours.

I have not had any experience with customer service. Hey - that's a GOOD thing. However, reading the forum boards, I've come across many people who have and the consensus seems to be that Fat Wallet's claims of fabulous customer service are true. I hope I never have to find out.

Overall, I think if you are looking for steals and deals in your shopping world, or if you coupon for sport like me, you'll find something of use at Fat Wallet. Just don't beat me to the stores.

Great source for daily shopping deals

My love to dealhunting actually began with fatwallet.com but I quickly realized that slickdeals.net is another major player at the market of daily deals/bargains. Thumbs up to Tim Storm and to you folks behind the slickdeals forums! If anything can go for a sign of admiration I hold for you guys please accept this little gift in a form of small lightweight aggregator of the deals from these two sites: http://www.wireddeals.com, It saves time finding hot deals published at these sites and yet it redirect all traffic back to the forums as far as the deal details are concerned. Think of it as a tool to judge which of the two sites has better deals. ;-)

First find the best price with the price comparison sites, then come back and find a matching coupon!
