Online shoppping tips:
Finding the right product at the right price can take some detective work but luckily you can do it all from your computer with a few strokes of your keyboard.Use eBay and Amazon as reference points.
Amazon is in itself quite a good price comparison engine since it works with a large number of retailers that all list their products for sale on the site. Add in free shipping and you have a hard to beat deal!
Search for exact model numbers.
There is no better way to find prices or a product than searching for the exact model number. This works especially well with Google but also try it out with some of the price comparison engines; you will get a very exact match and should be able to compare apples to apples.
Use multiple Price Comparison Engines.
The dirty little secret with Shopping Comparison Engine is that many of them share the same basic database and thus will display pretty much the same prices when you do a search. Often merchants will distribute the same product data to many different engines in order to get as much exposure (and traffic) as possible. We recommended searching on at least 4-5 different engines to get the best results.
Are you really getting the best price?
Merchants are often required to display the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) if they want to sell a specific product. But try sending them an email and asking what their best price is - more often than not they will readily knock off 5-15% just for asking!
You find the produt you wanted, now get a coupon!
Most major c-commerce sites offer some kind of coupons, either in the form of price reductions, free shipping or other incentives that will lower you total price. You should at least visit 2-4 major coupon sites - doing a search for the specific product or just the website where you found the product for sale.
Take advantage of the listings on Prisimo!
Prisimo is probably the best directory of quality coupon and price comparison sites available on the net today. Use the detailed information about each site (ratings, reviews, traffic data) to figure out which sites are worth your time and attention.
